Faculty-led Study abroad
Course Background
This two-week trip will follow in the footsteps of one of Germany’s most famous writers and avid scientists, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and re-discover art, nature, science, and engineering in the Alps.
Following a pre-departure course at MSU Spring 2024 (GRMN 202 or GRMN 450), students will visit iconic natural features and engineering miracles such as the glacial Isar River flowing out of the Karwendel mountain range, the tram ascending the Zugspitze, the architectural wonders leftover from the Habsburg Empire in Innsbruck, and one of our early relatives Ötzi in Bozen, Italy (aka Süd-Tirol).
Alongside encounters with the natural and engineering wonders, students will have opportunity to immerse themselves in German language and culture, bolstering linguistic proficiency through authentic experiences and making the most of an affordable 2-week trip to start the summer break before returning to summer jobs or staying abroad for travels. By the end of the MSU trip, participants will be fully versed in transit and hostel culture and ready to explore what else Europe has to offer.
Application Deposit due with application (October 15th): $350 to MSU Office of International Programs
